Greening the meeting
The organizers are pleased to offer field trips in the area before the meeting begins. See below for more information. Registration is required. You will be able to register and pay for the field trips during the registration process. Remember, the Sheraton is guaranteeing the conference-reduced room rate for 3 days before and after the official meeting dates.
Field Trip to USC Baruch Marine Lab & North Inlet
Visit the University of South Carolina’s Baruch Marine Lab and North Inlet-Winyah Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve on an outgoing tide (low tide @ 4p). We’ll leave the Sheraton on Wednesday, 4/12 around 10 am to catch lunch at a local hangout (Graham’s Landing) in Murrells Inlet before proceeding to the field lab and a tour of the facilities and local habitats. The cost of USD $20 includes transportation and lunch.
Field Trip to Waties Island & CCU Coastal Explorer
Visit and tour Waties Island, a research reserve jointly managed by Coastal Carolina University and The Nature Conservancy, and the Coastal Explorer, the new 50’ CCU research vessel, both located near Little River and the SC-NC boarder. We’ll leave the Sheraton on Wednesday, 4/12 around 1 pm to travel to tour both the island and vessel before returning to the hotel. The cost of USD $10 includes transportation and drinks.
